Partnership in Action: Zanzibar Mission Trip

Orange-paint-line-1 - COPY

In November we hosted a team from Brave Church, Denver, in Zanzibar which is an island off the coast of Tanzania. Zanzibar is a predominantly Muslim nation, with less than 1% known to be evangelical Christians. The Brave team travelled to minister and support our Issachar Tribe and believers serving there, and to facilitate outreaches to reach the Zanzibari people.

Although the trip took place during a tumultuous period of election protests, resulting in cancelled flights and a nationwide internet outage, God made a way for their team to get through. Miraculously their trip was delayed only by a few days—one of many testimonies of God's favour and faithfulness! They had an incredibly fruitful time—reaching children and youth through sports clinics, hosting a women’s conference, and evangelising through street ministry. The team also had the honour of ministering in local churches, worshipping together, and standing shoulder to shoulder with pastors and leaders who continue to serve courageously despite opposition.

During one of the team’s preparation times for street ministry, many experienced God’s power – and were baptised in the Spirit. They described receiving a boldness they had not felt before—which carried them as they ministered courageously to local Zanzibari people, many of whom were open, hungry, and receptive to receiving prayer. We praise God for these encounters and opportunities for the Zanzibari to experience His love. Phillip who is part of our Issachar Tribe in South Africa, also joined this trip, returning to facilitate further training in Disciple Making for a group of local believers. The heart of this training was to continue to equip believers with practical tools and methods to multiply disciples and increase faith amongst believers, which is especially impactful in communities that face opposition for being Christian.

One meaningful moment was visiting a ‘home’ church where the team saw the completion of a new roof that had been funded by Brave Church. Standing beneath the roof together with the leaders they had come to serve was a tangible reminder of how prayer, relationship, and generosity work together to strengthen the oppressed church.

This mission trip is a testimony of partnership in action. God is a masterful Orchestrator—linking people, ministries, and relationships across nations to bring Kingdom transformation. We are deeply encouraged by what God is doing in Zanzibar and grateful to everyone who prays, goes, and gives to support this work. Our team facilitators were deeply moved and encouraged by the Brave Team’s heart for Zanzibar, their dedication, and eagerness to serve.

Please join us in praying for Zanzibar:
For the local believers to be strengthened, encouraged, and protected as they serve faithfully in a spiritually challenging environment.

  • For the multiplication of disciples, that the seeds planted through the Disciple Making Training would take root and empower leaders to raise up more disciples across the island.
  • For openness among the Zanzibari people, that hearts would continue to be softened and made hungry for the gospel.
  • For the Issachar Tribe, that God would sustain them with wisdom, favour, and boldness as they minister and build relationships.
  • For blessing in partnership, that ministries, churches, and teams across nations would keep linking arms to see the Kingdom advance in unreached places.
  • For God’s will in the government to prevail – and that the church would boldly rise up to be the answer of hope people are looking for amidst the unrest and uncertainty.
